COLORFUL DISPLAY: Nineteen spring-themed banners created by Slippery Rock University art students were hung Wednesday in Slippery Rock. Students fashioned the banners in "Advanced Fibers" taught by Barbara Westman, SRU assistant professor of art. SRU and Slippery Rock Development collaborated on the project.
Health insurance changes under way
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - For many Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education employees, including Slippery Rock University managers, faculty, police, nurses, and non-faculty athletic coaches, changes in the health care costs will point strongly toward working hard to remain healthy.
"Costs for some benefits are going up," said Marcia Kotek, benefits and transactions manager in the SRU Office of Human Resources. (read more)
Exercise science majors demonstrate new fitness laboratory equipment
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - A group of Slippery Rock University exercise science majors Monday showed their capability in cardiovascular training, strength conditioning and wellness programming without stepping foot outside the new laboratory in Patterson Hall.
Students demonstrated the 30 new exercise, strength and fitness equipment machines in SRU's Exercise Technology Laboratory for an Office of Admissions video. The video will be posted on SRU's website this summer. (read more)
President announces student affairs transition plan; Watson, interim VP
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Cheryl Norton, Slippery Rock University president, Tuesday announced Robert Watson, vice president emeritus at SRU, would serve as the interim vice president for student affairs following the retirement of Constance Foley. Watson is a 1970 SRU education graduate with long family ties to the University.
Watson retired in 2006 after 34 years of service to the University, the last five as vice president for student life. (read more)
