Kaleidoscope Arts Festival kicks off

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University's 14-day Kaleidoscope Arts Festival begins April 15 with the SRU Senior Synthesis Dance Concert, followed by an April 17 hip-hop concert and an April 19 opening celebration on the Quad.

The opening celebration will be at 12:30 p.m. – common hour, which occurs 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Colleen Reilly, professor of theatre and festival director, said organizers coined a new moniker for the occasion. (read more)


Children's Day offers fun, entertainment

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The sound of harmonicas, children's entertainer Hal Walker and other fun activities will fill the air during Slippery Rock University's April 21 Children's Day, which is the premier family event of SRU's April 15-29 Kaleidoscope Arts Festival.

Children's Day will be offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of SRU's Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center. (read more)

Cold idea wins SRU competition

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Andrew Frank, a Slippery Rock University marketing major from Severna Park, Md. is Keepin Cold with a cool $1,000 as winner of SRU's Sustainable Enterprise Accelerator "Rock the Boat Business Pitch Competition."

Frank, who partnered with Brian Brodeur, an SRU communication major from Saxonburg, for help in preparing his "business pitch" said, "This is an idea that I really think will work." (read more)
