Slam poet Mojgani performs March 26
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Anis Mojgani, a two-time National Poetry Slam Champion and winner of the International World Cup Poetry Slam, will present his spoken work poetry at 7 p.m., March 26 at Slippery Rock University.
Mojgani's lecture will be in the University Union and is sponsored by the University Program Board, Student Government Association and the Slam Poetry Organization at SRU.

He has performed for audiences as varied as the House of Blues and the United Nations, and his work has appeared on HBO, NPR and in the pages of such journals as Rattle, Bestiary and The Legendary.
He is a founding member of the touring Poetry Revival and author of two poetry collections, "Over the Anvil We Stretch" (2008) and "The Feather Room" (2011), both published by Write Bloody Publishing.
His education includes a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Savannah College of Art & Design and its Media and Performing Arts Graduate Program
Among his other awards are being named a 2008 Pushcart Prize nominee.
He has taught at the Workshop Badilisha Poetry X-Change in Cape Town, South Africa, served as a guest writing workshop facilitator at Dartmouth College, Hanover and at the Oregon Writers-In-The-Schools Residency program in Portland. He was involved in the Centrum Arts Young Artist's Project in Port Townsend, Wash., the 2007 Centrum Arts Blue Heron, 2006 Centrum Writing Center, High School Master Arts Classes and the Country Day Creative Arts project in New Orleans.
Mojgani has also participated in the Page Meets Stage Reading Series with Tony Hoagland, the 2010 Drums In Your Chest project in California, the Sarah Lawrence Poetry Festival, the Live Wire Radio in Portland, the Catalyst Conference, the Palm Beach Poetry Festival, the Ordsprak International Poetry Festival in Sweden, VOCAL at Brandeis University, the Savannah Spoken Word Festival, the Augsburg Brecht Festival in Germany, Seoul's Young Writers Festival in Korea, the Wordstock Festival in Portland, the Vegas Valley Book Festival, HBO's Def Poetry Jam and Bumbershoot: Seattle's Music and Arts Festival in Seattle, Wash., and a host of others.
His exhibitions include solo shows at Couch and The Piano Farm, both in Portland, and Starland in Savanah, Ga.
Originally from New Orleans, Mojgani lives in Austin Texas.
