STARTING CHEMISTRY YOUNG: More than 40 Girl Scouts from western Pennsylvania, including from left, Rose Gigliotti, Kate Shaffer and Ashley Shoemaker, all fifth graders, joined in a hands-on ‘Chemistry Makes the World a Better Place’ workshop last Sunday in McKay Education Building. The program, organized by the SRU Chemistry Club, focused on laboratory safety, the periodic table, the states of matter and how to properly use a laboratory notebook. Participants completed several experiments. Similar programs are planned for fall.
