THE SINGING WINNER: Kevin Adamik, a Slippery Rock University tenor from Tarentum, was named the winner of the 18th annual Chad Williamson Memorial Scholarship Competition Sunday and received a hug from Karen Legato, Williamson’s mother. Sarah Mientus, a soprano from Sarver, earned honorable mention. The competition in Swope Music Hall drew 19 SRU voice majors. Hope Koehler, a member of the voice faculty at West Virginia University, was the judge. The annual event, created by Williamson’s family, honors his memory and love of music. He had enrolled at SRU, but was killed in motorcycle accident before beginning classes.
