Dance concert features jazz, tap, hip-hop

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University dance department will present two Jazz Dance/Tap Ensemble Concerts Saturday in Swope Music Hall featuring a variety of jazz, tap and hip-hop choreography.

Performances are at 5 and 8 p.m. Both programs will offer 12 dances choreographed by SRU dance majors.

Both concerts will include "Old School Class," choreographed by Ashley Lowman from Clearfield; "Thumpty Thump Thump Twitter Twitter Thump Thump," choreographed by Chelle Blankenship from Kane; "You Go, I Follow," choreographed by Alicia Garrity from Pittsburgh and Lacey Gibasiewicz from Suttersville; and "Keepin' Up with the Skat," choreographed by Lexi Sirinakis from Baltimore, Md.

The shows will also offer "WANTED: Women with Desire," choreographed by Gibasiewicz; "B+ on the Box," choreographed by Hanna Labate from Grove City and Heather Richardson from Narragansett, R.I.; "Assembly Code," choreographed by Samantha Corvino from East Greenbush, N.Y.; "Breakthrough Invasion," choreographed by Krystie Serviss from Long Island, N.Y., and Amber Adams from Aston; "Subliminal Minds Think Alike," choreographed by Kiley Pogas from Sarver; "Wives and Mistresses," choreographed by Amber Allgyer from Leola; and "Beat this BEAT!," choreographed by Becka Young from Nazareth and Vandessa Argento from Sheatown.

"Fragmented," choreographed by Elizabeth Zinni from Fredonia, N.Y., will be part of the 5 p.m. performance, and "My Very Empty Mouth," choreographed by Kaitlyn Grimes from Erie, will be included in the 8 p.m. performance.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for the general public, $3 for SRU students. Seating is limited.

The SRU Dance Theatre Fall Concert is at 5 and 8 p.m., Dec. 4, in Swope.
