ALUMINUM SUSTAINABILITY: Slippery Rock University juniors Dann Whitmore, a sport management major from Rochester, N.Y., Nadine Hildebrand, an accounting major from Pittsburgh, and Todd Ferry, a safety major from North Canton, Ohio, had the change to talk with William “Bill” O’Rourke, vice president for sustainability and environment, health and safety at Alcoa in Pittsburgh. O’Rourke visited campus as part of the School of Business’ “Success Starts Here Speaker Series” Thursday in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall. O’Rourke, who once headed Alcoa’s multi-billion dollar operations in Russia, outlined how Alcoa approaches sustainability. He said when an aluminum beverage can is properly disposed of, it can be recycled and back on the shelf in 60 days.
