UNION DIG: Construction crews have begun site preparation for Slippery Rock University’s new University Union. The facility, scheduled to open in 2012, will include a Starbucks, Quaker Steak & Lube, bank, numerous meeting rooms for student organizations and Wi-Fi.
Construction work improves campus
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University had one of its most productive construction seasons on record this summer. Work got under way on the new $38-million University Union on the site of the former Dodds Hall and workers constructed new campus pedestrian ramps and walkways, laid black top, repurposed Morrow Field House racquetball courts into classrooms and continued with the Vincent Science Hall renovation.

SRU opens year with 37 new facultySLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University opens its 2010 fall semester with 37 new faculty. The newesst members of the University community come from across the U.S. and around the world bringing with them teaching and research skills, new cultures and new ideas.

New commission aids disabledSLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - A new presidential commission has been organized to help assess and change Slippery Rock University's campus culture related to those with disabilities. Colleen Cooke, associate professor of parks and recreation/environmental education, chairs the President's Commission on Disability Issues as it launches its work this fall.
Cooke, former co-chair of the President's Commission on LGBTQI Issues since the commission's inception, conceived the new commission after noting those with disabilities were underserved and underrepresented on campus. Read More.
