LOTS TO CELEBRATE: Paula Purnell showed regional residents how and why Pennsylvanians have been making music at the “Celebrate Pennsylvania!,” event staged at Slippery Rock University’s Old Stone House. As part of the presentation, Purnell called Cole Mickley to the front to help present one of the songs. The family-friendly, interactive presentation drew a packed room and featured songs written by and about the people of Pennsylvania. Purnell discussed authentic instruments, costumes and props. Aaron Cowan, SRU assistant professor of history, is the facility’s curator.
