Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The board of governors for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is offering a Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program across the 14 state system universities that could affect an estimated 50 employees at Slippery Rock University.
"The numbers are not exact, but we think about 50 employees could take advantage of the program," said Lynne Motyl, assistant vice president for human resources. She said the actual number depends in part on whether employees with purchasable service make that choice. Read More

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University will salute nearly 2,650 dean's list students, 60 Presidential Scholar honorees, 520 academic scholarship recipients, 130 scholar athletes, 17 community service learning volunteers and the 2010 President's Award recipients at its annual Academic Honors Convocation April 11.

Student geographer uncoverscolonial past in San Salvador
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Talk about getting down and dirty. When tropical growth that obscured the walls and outbuildings of a plantation in San Salvador threatened his research, Chris Abbott, a Slippery Rock University environmental studies major, grabbed a machete and went to work.
"I spent three days hacking, crawling, bleeding and pushing GPS buttons," he said. "I cut a trail to the newly discovered slave quarters, delineated many more plantation boundaries and uncovered the original driveway to the oldest port on the island - and got poisonwood on my arms and feet," he said.
