SRU's Green & White Society plans 'Backpacks to Briefcases' mixer

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University students accustomed to carrying books to class are invited to participate in a "Backpacks to Briefcases" networking event with SRU alumni April 30.

The B2B event is sponsored by SRU's Office of Career Services, the SRU Alumni Association and the Green & White Society, a select group of SRU student ambassadors committed to increasing school spirit on campus and maintaining contact with Rock alumni.

Following a brief presentation by Office of Career Services staff at 3:45 p.m. in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center, participants will be bused to the Diamond Pizza Restaurant at PNC Park, 115 Federal St., Pittsburgh, where they will meet and talk with alumni.

"The program is designed to allow SRU students the opportunity to explore career options and get to know our successful alumni as well as learn about life after college," said Andrew Bolla, Green & White Society vice president for alumni relations. "Our goal in developing this program was to create more opportunities and connections with alumni for our students and provide them with valuable out-of-classroom experiences. Students will also have the opportunity to learn and apply various professional networking skills."

Transportation, hot appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided to the first 40 students who pre-register by e-mailing their name, major, cell phone number and expected year of graduation to Bolla at: atb2722@sru.edu.

Buses will return to campus by 9:30 p.m.
