Nicole Hahna, an SRU music therapy instructor, will present her research at the American Music Therapy Association Conference in San Diego in November. Hahna's presentation is about a collaboration concerning quantitative research she conducted with Melody Schwantes, an adjunct faculty member at Appalachian State University. The title of their research poster is "Survey of Music Therapy Educators: Implications for Feminist Music Therapy Education." The work also covers qualitative analysis on the open-ended questions of their survey.
Mary Ann Thurkettle, associate professor of nursing, along with Carrie Nickerson, co-principal investigator at Duquesne University, received a 2009 National League for Nursing Nursing Education Research Grant. This is a highly competitive competition and includes $7,000 for research expenses. Their study will examine the relationship of cognitive maturity to readiness for evidence-based practice. The award was presented during a special session at the NLN Summit in Philadelphia.
